How long have you worked in the field of health care/wellness?
I have been coaching clients for a year and a half, but I have been interested in nutrition and ways to live a healthier lifestyle for several years. When my husband was diagnosed as pre-diabetic, I was able to help him get his blood glucose levels back to normal through dietary changes. That’s when I realized that I wanted to find a way to help others. That’s when I decided to become a health coach.
Describe your training/education and professional background.
I started with a certification as a Nutrition Coach, but realized that I wanted more in-depth training in coaching the whole person, not just coaching my clients on dietary changes. My next step was to achieve a certification as a Holistic Health Coach from The Health Coach Institute. While this gave me the training to coach my clients with a whole body approach, I wanted a deeper understanding of the underlying cause of chronic conditions and how to help my clients heal through lifestyle changes. I discovered the Function Medicine Coaching Academy and completed a rigorous one-year training program to become certified as a Functional Medicine Health Coach.
Describe Functional Medicine and a Functional Medicine Health Coach.
Functional Medicine is a model of care that addresses the underlying causes of disease and engages both patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, Functional Medicine considers the whole person.
A Functional Medicine Health Coach is trained in the scientific disciplines of Functional Medicine, nutrition, mind-body medicine, and positive psychology. As a Functional Medicine Health Coach, I help clients meet their health goals by listening to their concerns and helping them address key lifestyle factors so that they can create sustainable long term health and wellbeing.
Who is your ideal client?
I work with people who are are pre-diabetic or have been diagnosed Type 2 diabetes. I also work with people who struggle with nutrition and weight issues that may lead to developing this chronic disease.
What problem do you solve for your clients?
I help my clients make lasting lifestyle changes so that they can better manage their blood glucose levels in a natural way with the goal of never developing diabetes. If they have diabetes, the goal is reducing or eliminating the need for medications that can cause side effects that lead to a cascade of health issues.
What is the result for clients working with you?
My clients feel healthy, are more energetic, and are free of worry. They are in control of their health.
Why did you choose to work with Dr. Goldi at Golden Chiropractic?
Goldi and I both believe in a holistic approach to health and wellness. We want to help people get healthy and stay healthy so they can live full, balanced, joyful lives. I’m so happy that I found Goldi, she is an amazing person and I feel lucky to be a part of her team.
